WBSC Baseball5 World Cup: High5 Award to be presented to Social MVP

The High5 Award will be presented to a Baseball5 fan, national federation or player who has promoted the Baseball5 World Cup and the sport of Baseball5 through powerful storytelling.

The World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) has announced that the inaugural Baseball5 World Cup will grant a fourth individual award for the Social MVP, in addition to the Outstanding Female Player, Outstanding Male Player and Best Coach. All award winners will receive NFT awards.

The Baseball5 World Cup Social MVP with be presented with the High5 Award in recognition of the power of social media in engaging Baseball5 fans around the world. Anyone can participate using the hashtag #B5High5 with the award being presented to a Baseball5 fan, national federation or player who has promoted the Baseball5 World Cup and the sport of Baseball5 through powerful story telling during the evaluation period from the first to the last day of the competition. 

Posts must be made using the hashtag #B5High5 (can also be together with the tournament’s main hashtag #B5WorldCup). The WBSC Media & Communications team will evaluate and select the best content based on the emotive and storytelling influence of the content as well as on the impact on social media community such as engagement and impressions. The applicable social media platforms are Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and TikTok.

Throughout the tournament, players, coaches, National Federations and fans are also encouraged to promote the Baseball5 World Cup on social media by tagging @wbsc and @Baseball5 and using the hashtags #B5WorldCup #PlayEverywhere and #Baseball5.

In September, the WBSC signed an historic deal with LEVERADE to award the Baseball5 World Cup and the WBSC Virtual Cup with digital trophies and medals in NFT format. The NFT prizes will be handed out in addition to the traditional winners’ medals and trophies.
