WBSC Europe Congress: New Continental Funds distribution process explained

The WBSC Europe Congress started with the members holding a moment's silence out of respect for the Türkiye Baseball and Softball Federation and the victims of the earthquake disaster, which has struck the country.

A new plan for the distribution of continental funds by the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) was outlined to members of WBSC Europe during its Congress in Belgrade, Serbia on Saturday.

The new distribution fund process includes a new mathematical, transparent formula which is adapted to continental needs and activities to empower them to manage the development of baseball and softball at the continental level.

The WBSC aims to empower and further grow the continental associations WBSC President Riccardo Fraccari said when informing the WBSC Europe Congress.

"I believe it is an important step to share resource management at a continental level, for the benefit of all WBSC Members," WBSC President Riccardo Fraccari said.

From this year, the WBSC will allocate to each Continental Association a dedicated continental development fund with the aim to give them more independency and to empower them, transferring skills and knowledge to grow their own communities.

A key part of this new process means national federations now need to apply directly to their Continental Association to seek assistance for their development projects.

Meanwhile, the WBSC Europe Congress started with the members holding a moment's silence out of respect for the Türkiye Baseball and Softball Federation and the victims of the earthquake disaster, which has struck the country.

The WBSC Europe Congress also voted to continue the suspension of the Russian and Belarusian athletes and officials from international competitions due to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
