President Fraccari’s call was with the newly formed COPABE working groups, which are focused on marketing, events and development.

World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) president Riccardo Fraccari met online with COPABE leaders on Friday, 31 July.

COPABE, a continental arm of the WBSC, represents 31 nations across the Americas, including some of the most powerful and highly ranked baseball nations, including 5 of the Top 10 in the WBSC Baseball World Rankings.

With the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the international calendar was at the forefront of discussions, while other top talking points included event/national team marketing and growth of the game -- assets to further strengthen baseball’s case to become a long-term Olympic global sport.

Friday’s call was with the newly formed COPABE working groups, which are focused on marketing, events and development.

The Americas features 10 of the Top 20 nations in the WBSC Baseball World Rankings and features many of the best players in the world, giving COPABE an "exciting" opportunity to go from “strength to strength” with marketing and development initiatives, Fraccari underlined.
