WBSC joins IBIS portal and takes further action against competition manipulation

WBSC joins IBIS portal and takes further action against competition manipulation.

The World Baseball Confederation (WBSC) has signed up to the International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) Integrity Betting Intelligence System (IBIS), which seeks to fight against corruption and related manipulation through betting on sports.

Under the partnership, WBSC and its Member Federations will gain access to a wide range of data from event owners and the sports betting market. If WBSC suspects one of its events to have been jeopardised, IBIS may be used to scan the betting market for dubious patterns.

IBIS was first launched by the IOC for the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games and has since become the primary source of betting information for the Olympic Movement. The intelligence system remains operational in between Olympic Games, and is used by Winter and Summer IFs to monitor their own competitions.
