A total of 21 participants were involved in the WBSC Baseball5 Coaching Seminar, which was organised by WBSC Oceania in collaboration with the Papua New Guinea Baseball/Softball Confederation.

"We believe that Baseball5 will stimulate a whole new interest, especially with school children in the U-15 and U-12 age brackets;" said Papua New Guinea Baseball/Softball Confederation President Ralph Tarasomo following a successful WBSC Baseball5 Coaching Seminar in the Papua New Guinea capital of Port Moresby.

"The introduction of Baseball5 in Papua New Guinea is now historical," added Tarasomo - who, along with deputy Dick Bart, participated in the course. "We are very committed and determined to ensure that this new sport is embraced and delivered successfully."

A total of 21 participants were involved in the seminar, which was organised by WBSC Oceania in collaboration with the Papua New Guinea Baseball/Softball Confederation.

Oceania Baseball Development Officer Inoke Niubalavu, a licensed WBSC Continental Instructor, coordinated the clinic, which was divided into two parts.

A theory session provided a complete overview of Baseball5 as well as an introduction to the role that WBSC Oceania has within the World Baseball Softball Confederation while the practical session was held at the Bisini Softball Precinct.

The plans to develop Baseball5 in Papua New Guinea include the creation of a youth competition as the first step before the middle term goal is to develop quality competition at the local and national level. In the long term, Papua New Guinea aims at sending a National Team to international Baseball5 events with next year's inaugural WBSC Baseball5 World Cup a target.

The Papua New Guinea Baseball/Softball Confederation is the administrator of the softball and baseball code in Papua New Guinea, through an executive, duly elected every three years.
