WBSC Premier12 stars Alec Bohm (pictured above) and Shohei Ohtani were voted by fans among 2024 Major League Baseball (MLB) All-Star Game starters. They will both take the field for the National League. Bohm will start at third base while Ohtani will be the designated hitter.

Ohtani starred as a pitcher in the inaugural Premier12. Bohm was the United States starting third baseball in the 2019 edition.

Ohtani has been the only Los Angeles Dodgers player voted by fans among the National League starters. Bohm is one of three Philadelphia Phillies, the others being first baseman Bryce Harper and shortstop Trea Turner. William Contreras (Milwaukee Brewers) will be the starting catcher, and Ketel Marte (Arizona Diamondbacks) will play second. Jurickson Profar, who represented the Netherlands in the World Baseball Classic, and his San Diego Padres teammate Fernando Tatis Jr and Milwaukee's Christian Yelich will play the outfield.

American League fans voted catcher Adley Rutschmann (Baltimore Orioles), first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr (Toronto Blue Jays), second baseman José Altuve (Houston Astros), third baseman José Ramirez (Cleveland Guardians), shortstop Gunnar Henderson (Orioles) and outfielder Aaron Judge (New York Yankees, the vote leader), Steven Kwan (Guardians) and Juan Soto (Yankees). Houston's Yordan Alvarez was voted the starting DH.

The complete rosters

The MLB All-Star Game 2024 is scheduled for Tuesday, July 16, at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. Torey Lovullo (Diamondbacks, National League) and Bruce Bochy (Texas Rangers, American League. He also managed France in the World Baseball Classic Qualifier) will pick the pitchers.

The All-Star Game will be preceded by the Home Run Derby (Monday, July 15) and the All-Star Futures Game (Saturday, July 13).

The two squads feature the 18 top overall prospects, including WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup 2022 MVP Bryce Eldridge. Max Clark and Aidan Miller also helped the United States to the U-18 world title in 2022.

The rosters combine for 13 internationally-born players representing seven countries and territories outside USA. The Dominican Republic is represented by six players (pitchers Winston Santos and Emiliano Teodo, catchers Samuel Basallo and Thayron Liranzo, infielders Deyvison De Los Santos, a WBSC U-15 Baseball World Cup alum, and Jeral Perez), followed by two players from Venezuela (outfielder Kaison Chourio and first baseman Moises Ballesteros) and one each from the Bahamas (infielder Sebastian Walcott), Canada (outfielder Caissie Owen), Cuba (pitcher Luis Morales), Nicaragua (pitcher Fernando Perez) and Taiwan (infielder Hao-Yu Lee, who played for Chinese Taipei at the U-12, U-15 and U-18 Baseball World Cups).

Adrian Beltre will be the American League skipper.

Michael Young will manager the National League.
