WBSC Premier12 and Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games alum Jung-hoo Lee earned Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) league MVP honours.

The Kiwoom Heroes outfielder led the league in five major offensive categories, the first player in 12 years, winning a near-unanimous vote: 104 out of 107.

Lee had a .349 batting average and captured his second straight batting title. He led the league with 193 hits, 113 RBIs, a .421 on-base percentage and a .575 slugging percentage.

Lee missed the Triple Crown as he tied for fifth with 23 home runs.

Having earned Rookie of the Year honours in 2017, he became the third player to achieve both Rookie of the Year and MVP honours after pitcher Hyun-jin Ryu and infielder Geon-chang Seo.

Lee's father, Jong-beom Lee, a five-tool shortstop who retired after the 2001 season, was the 1994 MVP. This makes the Lees the first father-son pair to earn KBO MVP honours.

Since Jong-beom Lee was nicknamed Son of the Wind, fans nicknamed Jung-hoo Lee The Grandson of the Wind.
