WBSC proud to be associated with IPACS as active partner and advocate for good governance

The WBSC and the Integrity Unit has committed itself to maintaining the highest standards of integrity and transparency in its governance.

The World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) took part in the Annual General Conference of the International Partnership Against Corruption in Sport (IPACS) held in a hybrid format at the headquarters of the United Nationa Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in Vienna, Austria, on Tuesday.

Joining more than 100 key stakeholders from governments, sports organisations, and intergovernmental organisations and experts from IPACS Task Forces, the WBSC was involved in discussions on the progress, raise awareness of, and generate further support for IPACS among the key stakeholders.

WBSC Chief Operating Officer Marco Ienna and Integrity Unit & Special Projects coordinator Yoori Jung participated in discussions about the prevention of corruption through good governance, which the WBSC has been an advocate for, through the activities and studies launched by the IPACS taskforce for many years.

Among the key topics, IPACS presented the new structure of its taskforces to consolidate and further strengthen the workflow on prevention. The meeting also provided the opportunity to promote cross-sector cooperation and sharing of best practices such as the new UNODC initiative to help relevant sports bodies not only by granting cooperation with anti-corruption and law enforcement authorities in criminal, civil or administrative corruption proceedings, but also by providing knowledge, resources and tools needed to track, investigate and prosecute cases of cross-borders corruption in a sport contest, including access to a secure communications channels.

The WBSC and the Integrity Unit has committed itself to maintaining the highest standards of integrity and transparency in its governance, with the aim of safeguarding the future of baseball and softball and its keen to help IPACS in its new objectives.
