WBSC Softball Asia/Oceania Qualifier: Australia, China win their groups, advance undefeated to Super Round

With four games today closed the WBSC Softball Asia/Oceania Qualifier round robin. Australia and China claimed the first place of their groups, while Chinese Taipei and Philippines clinched the second place with key wins.

With today’s results Australia earned its qualification to the World Games Birmingham 2021.

Chinese Taipei 13-0 Indonesia

Yi-Ting Yang and Chih-Ying Lin combined for four hits and six RBI to lead Chinese Taipei to its second victory of the round robin at the WBSC Softball Asia/Oceania Qualifier. Chinese Taipei used two big innings in the first and sixth to secure the win.

Philippines 1-0 New Zealand

Philippines qualified for the Super Round by the skin of their teeth when in the final crucial Group A match by a single run in a tie-breaker against New Zealand.

Korea 1-2 China

China’s infield player Lu Ying was the toast of the team in their close 2-1 win over Korea to complete their Group A fixtures unbeaten and qualify for the Super Round.

Hong Kong, China 0-8 Australia

Australia continued their winning ways as they easily disposed of Hong Kong China 8-0 in five innings and qualify as the top of the Group B in the WBSC Softball Asia/Oceania Qualifier.
