WBSC Softball Umpire Director Bob Stanton (Canada) will headline the Softball Europe Umpire Convention, to be held from 10-11 March in Prague, Czech Republic. More than 70 umpires across Europe are expected to attend the event.

After the historic and successful establishment of WBSC Europe, following the merger of the Confederation of European Baseball (CEB) and the European Softball Federation (ESF), the Softball Europe Umpire Convention is another step in the promotion and growing of softball, aiming to update, develop, and unify the vision of the umpires in the Old Continent.

As a part of the convention, Softball Europe will also present the Blue Awards that recognise the top European umpires.

New European Director of Umpires

Early this week, Softball Europe announced the appointment of Carolien Stadhouders (Netherlands) as Softball Europe Director of Umpires. Two new positions were also established, with Raoul Machalet (Germany) announced as Softball Europe Umpire in Chief Development, and Hans Hornstra (Netherlands) Softball Europe Umpire in Chief Assignments. Both will work closely with the Softball Europe Director of Umpires.
