WBSC supports the growth of baseball for the blind in Tanzania with latest initiative

The WBSC and the Italian Association Baseball for the Blind (AIBxC), a WBSC Associate Member, provided a full starter-kit and instructors for a coaches clinic.

Baseball for the Blind has taken one more step toward development in Tanzania, as the WBSC Paralympic Commission recently supported the Tanzania Baseball and Softball Association (TaBSA) and Daar Es Salaam College of Education.

In addition to a recent online seminar, WBSC issued a starter kit to TaBSA, which included the basic tools to play baseball for the blind: a sound base, clappers and balls.

The Italian Association Baseball for the Blind (AIBxC; a WBSC Associate Member) provided instructors Lorenzo de Regny, AIBxC chairman and a member of WBSC Paralympic Commission, Giangiacomo Bonomo, a blind player for Tigers Cagliari of the Italian Baseball for the Blind league, Michele Bianchi, a team assistant with Leonessa Brescia of the Italian Baseball for the Blind League, and Giacomo Reina, a coach and sighted-assistant for Milano Thunder's 5 of the Italian Baseball for the Blind League.

A total of 20 participants attended the course, which was overseen by AIBxC president Alberto Mazzanti and Eva Trevisan, AIBxC office manager.
