WBSC to live-stream second Melbourne Aces-Adelaide Giants challenge series

The Giants won the first series in January. Genevieve Beacom, the first woman to play professionally in Australia, made her debut in game two. The ABL cancelled the 2021-2022 season because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

After a successful series in January and thanks to the support of the Victorian Government, the Melbourne Aces of the Australian Baseball League (ABL) and the Adelaide Giants agreed on a second three-game series.

"It was fantastic to see so many people either watch the Melbourne Challenge either live or on our stream", commented Melbourne Aces General manager and WBSC Athletes Commission co-chair Justin Huber. "We knew our fans were feeling starved of Aces baseball in Melbourne, and with such a great turnout, we know they weren't disappointed with what they saw. We thank the Victorian Government for their support of the Melbourne Challenge and look forward to reversing the result of the first series."

The Giants won the first game of the February Challenge Series, 3-0. The whole game is available on-demand on the WBSC YouTube channel (youtube.com/wbsc).

Game two is scheduled for Saturday, 5 February at 7 pm Australian Eastern Daylight Time (AEDT).

Gane three is scheduled for Sunday, 6 February, at 1 pm AEDT.

WBSC YouTube channel will live-stream both games live and offer them on demand.

The ABL was forced to cancel the 2021-22 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. According to Baseball Australia CEO Glenn Williams, the decision doesn't affect the long-or-mid term plans of the league.
