Manager Ian Griebenow spoke about the upcoming U-12 Baseball World Cup through the South African Baseball Union (SABU) YouTube channel.

"I think it's going to be amazing for our youth. We are going to represent Africa. It's not only South Africa. We want to make Africa proud. We wanna' bring our own brand of baseball."

Griebenow says he's not looking to go head-to-head with baseball's superpowers, but wants to show that South African baseball can compete on the global stage.

"We want to show the world that with a few more years of development and the support of our National Federation, we can be a force in the ranking not only in Africa but in the rest of the world," said Griebenow.

South Africa will open the youth world championship against a central american baseball nation, world No. 13 Panama, on 29 July.
