WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup 2017 champ Kumar Rocker selected 3rd overall in 2022 MLB Draft

WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup 2013 winner, U-15 World Cup 2016 All-World teamer Justin Campbell was selected by the Cleveland Guardians. Twenty of the 37 players picked in the first round are USA Baseball alumni.

Twenty USA Baseball alumni were selected in the first round of the MLB First-Year Player Draft.

The list includes No. 1 overall pick Jackson Holliday, a shortstop who played for the U-18 National Team in 2021 exhibition games.

The Texas Rangers picked right-handed pitcher Kumar Rocker, who helped the US win the WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup 2017, at No. 3 overall.

The Cleveland Guardians chose right-handed pitcher Justin Campbell at No. 37. The fireballer helped the US win the WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup 2013. He also made the All-World Team at the WBSC U-15 Baseball World Cup 2016, playing first base and pitcher, going 9-for-18.

"USA Baseball has now had 550 athletes drafted in the first round since 1972, and 2022 marks the 19th time in the last 22 years that the first overall pick played for the USA National Teams," stated the organization through a press release.
