The WBSC Women's Baseball World Cup Finals 2024 presented by CARNEXT will open in 10 days in Thunder Bay, Canada. The event was inaugurated in 2004 in Edmonton, Canada. World No. 1 Japan won their sixth consecutive Women's Baseball World Cup on that occasion and will be favourites again when the Finals 2024 take place from 28 July to 3 August.
The first WBSC Women's Baseball World Cup took place in 2004. Edmonton, Canada, hosted the first edition, and the United States earned the first Women's Baseball World Title.
Japan (6 editions) and USA (2) are the only women's baseball programmes to win a World Title. Japan has also won two silver medals, while USA claimed two silver and two bronze medals.
Canada (2 silver and 4 bronze), Australia (1 silver and 1 bronze), Chinese Taipei (1 silver) and Venezuela (1 bronze) are the only other teams to earn medals.
Mexico, participating in the WBSC Women's Baseball World Cup for the first time, will have a first chance to medal, while Venezuela's best result was fourth in 2016.
