WBSC Women's Baseball World Cup star Diamilette Quiles to manage Lobas de Arecibo in Puerto Rico Women's Double-A League

Quiles is the first woman to manage the 11-time league champions.

Lobas de Arecibo, the Puerto Rico Women's Double-A League defending champions, has named Diamilette Quiles their manager for the 2023 season.

Quiles, 38, is regarded as a women's baseball pioneer in her country. She started playing for Lobas in 2009. And in 2019, the WBSC Women's Baseball World Cup star made a milestone as the first woman to compete in the men's Double-A League. She also served on the Montañeses de Utuado coaching staff under manager Efrain Cano Garcia.

"It's a challenge, it really is a challenge," commented Quiles. "I have a lot of experience as a player, which will help me work for the good of the team and my players."

"Whenever I have the chance, I state they are my girls. For me, they are like family," she added.

Lobas de Arecibo won 11 out of 12 Women's Double-A League titles.

The 2023 Puerto Rico Double-A Women's Baseball League will open on 12 August.
