A total of 14 teams will compete in Guatemala City from 12-19 November for five available spots in the WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup Group Stage, set to take place next year. The continental championship will also serve as a qualifier for the continental and regional multi-sports events: the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games and the San Salvador 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games. All games of the tournament will be live-streamed on the WBSC Americas Softball YouTube Channel.

The 14 teams will open the tournament in two groups from 12-16 November:

  • Group A: No. 1 USA, No. 5 Puerto Rico, No. 14 Venezuela, No. 16 Brazil, No. 48 Argentina, No. 57 El Salvador, Costa Rica.
  • Group B: No. 3 Canada, No. 4 Mexico, No. 22 Peru, No. 30 Cuba, No. 43 Dominican Republic, No. 57 Nicaragua, Team WBSC.

After the group stage, the top four teams in each group will advance to a double-page playoffs, from 17-19 November. The games schedule will be announced at a later stage.

The top five teams in the final standings will qualify for the WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup, the first WBSC event to be played under the two-stage format. A total of 18 teams will be split into three groups for the Group Stage, set to be played in 2023, with Ireland, Italy and Spain hosting a group each. The top two teams from each group, and two wild cards, will move to the Final Stage, that will crown a world champion in 2024. The Final Stage will be played in Italy.

World No. 7 Italy, No. 10 Netherlands and No. 12 Great Britain have already secured their tickets to the WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup Group Stage as the top-three teams in the Women's Softball European Championship.

The top six teams in the tournament (not counting USA) will qualify for the Santiago 2023 Pan Am Games. They will join No. 62 Chile (host) and USA, who earned their ticket as gold medallist at the Cali 2021 Junior Pan American Games.
