Women’s BWC: Chinese Taipei cruises by Netherlands

Chinese Taipei has its second win at the V IBAF Women’s Baseball World Cup in Edmonton, Canada. They crushed the Netherlands 17-3 in five innings on a sunny Sunday morning at Telus Field. They scored 16 of their 17 runs in the first three frames, highlighted by a pair of six-run rallies in the second and third. The three Dutch runs were their first in the tournament, as they lost their third game.

The Asian team emptied their bench in the blowout. Hsiang Yun Wang went 2-for-2 with two runs and four RBI. Hsiao Mei Chen collected four hits, three runs and three RBI. Yung Hsien Cheng and Chiu Ching Lin crossed the plate three times apiece. Lindy Boland, Hilde Bosker and Mickey Ras scored the runs for the Netherlands.

On the mound Tzu Hui Pan allowed two runs on one hit and three walks in three innings to pick up the win. Tzu Ling Wen and Chi Tseng closed it out for Chinese Taipei. Larissa Bruijn was charged with eight hits, ten runs (9 ER) and three base on balls in 1 1/3 frames, taking the loss. Loes Asmus, Maria van Veen and Claudia Kranendonk followed her.
