It was a great start for Chinese Taipei into the game. After Venezuela couldn’t take advantage of a runner at third with one out in the top half of the first, the Asian team struck first in the bottom. Yung Hsien Cheng and Shih Yun Lee crossed the plate on a sac fly by Tzu Hui Pan and a single by Hsiao Mei Chen for a quick 2-0 lead.

Venezuela answered with a RBI groundout by Sor Brito in the second, but Chinese Taipei extended the gap on Chi Tseng’s two-run single in the third to 4-1. Their opponents weren’t able to do much afterwards, except another RBI groundout by Joselin Gimenez in the sixth.

Hurlers Hsiao Chien Wang and Wen Ching Hsieh collected just one strikeout throughout the game, allowing two runs on eight hits and no walks. Wang ended up with the win, Hsieh with the save. On the other side Diogcelis Guevara issued seven hits, four runs and four base on balls in 4 1/3 innings, striking out four.
