Women’s Softball World Cup 2024 Americas Qualifier begins Saturday

A total of 14 teams aim to qualify for the XVII WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup, which will be played for the first time under the two-stage format.

The official schedule of the XVII WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup Americas Qualifier has been unveiled by WBSC Americas Softball, beginning on Saturday, 12 November in Guatemala with 14 participating teams. The tournament, to be played at Carlos Cano Gomez Stadium and Carlos Larrañaga Gomar Stadium, will open at 10 a.m. with two games.

The 14 teams will open the tournament with the Opening Round featuring two groups from 12-16 November:

  • Group A: No. 1 USA, No. 5 Puerto Rico, No. 14 Venezuela, No. 16 Brazil, No. 48 Argentina, No. 57 El Salvador, Costa Rica.
  • Group B: No. 3 Canada, No. 4 Mexico, No. 22 Peru, No. 30 Cuba, No. 43 Dominican Republic, No. 57 Nicaragua, Team WBSC.

The top four from each group will advance to playoffs. 

The top five teams in the final standings will qualify for the WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup, the first WBSC event to be played under the two-stage format. A total of 18 teams will be split into three groups for the Group Stage, set to be played in 2023, with Ireland, Italy and Spain hosting a group each. The top two teams from each group, and two wild cards, will move to the Final Stage, that will crown a world champion in 2024. The Final Stage will be played in Italy.
