World No. 23 China earn wildcard for XXXI WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup

It will be the programme's fourth participation in the top international event for the U-18 age bracket.

The WBSC Executive Board awarded World No. 23 China a Wild Card for the XXXI U-18 Baseball World Cup.

The set of 12 participating teams is now complete. Eight earned their participation through qualifying tournaments in Europe (August 2022), the Americas (November 2022), Oceania (December 2022) and Africa (February 2023). WBSC Asia awarded their three spots according to the Continental Rankings.

  • Asia (3): No, 1 Japan, No. 4 Chinese Taipei, No. 5 Korea
  • Americas (4): No. 2 USA , No. 3 Mexico, No. 6 Venezuela, No. 14 Panama
  • Europe (2): No.8 Netherlands, No. 21 Spain
  • Oceania (1): No. 9 Australia
  • Wild Card (1): No. 23 China

The United States are the defending champions.

China participated in the U-18 Baseball World Cup 2019 in Gijang, Korea. They finished in 11th place with a 2-6 record. After going winless in Group A, China beat South Africa and Spain in the Placement Round.

It was China's third participation in the tournament. They finished in eighth place in 1988 in Sydney, Australia, and in 2000 in Edmonton, Canada.
