Adam Wainwright will make his international debut at 41 in the World Baseball Classic 2023.

Wainwright has played for the St.Louis Cardinals of Major League Baseball (MLB) since 2005. He missed the 2011 season due to a Tommy John surgery on his right elbow but made the headlines in every other season he played.

Wainwright helped the Cardinals win the 2006 World Series. He earned three All-Star selections (2010, 2013, 2014), two Gold Gloves (2009, 2013), one Silver Slugger (2017) and led the National League in wins in 2009 and 2013.

A fantasy football enthusiast, Wainwright created a network in eight cities called Big League Impact. The goal is to raise money for various charities. His contributions in helping to build Haiti's Ferrier Village Secondary School made Wainwright a recipient of the Roberto Clement Award 2020.

Wainwright joins a group of MLB stars who have committed to play in the World Baseball Classic, which includes pitchers David Bednar, Nestor Cortes, Merrill Kelly, Dillon Tate, Devin Williams; catchers J.T. Realmuto, Will Smith; infielders Pete Alonso, Tim Anderson, Nolan Arenado, Paul Goldschmidt, Trevor Story, Trea Turner, Bobby Witt Junior; outfielders Mookie Betts, Cedric Mullins, Mike Trout, Kyle Tucker.
