World’s largest sports retailer Decathlon joins WBSC Baseball5 World Cup maiden edition as the official supplier

This is the first time Decathlon and the WBSC have worked together, building a partnership that will help spread the passion for WBSC’s disciplines worldwide.

The World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) announced today a partnership with French retail giants Decathlon as an official supplier for the inaugural edition of the Baseball5 World Cup, which takes place from 7-13 November in the Zocalo, in Mexico City, in Mexico.

The agreement will see Decathlon provide the apparel for all WBSC officials and staff working in the event.

“The WBSC is proud to join forces with Decathlon, a respected and world renowned company, especially to partner on the first Baseball5 World Cup,” WBSC President Riccardo Fraccari said. “Decathlon shares the Baseball5 mission and values of making sport accessible to everyone, everywhere so this partnership couldn’t be a better fit.”

Decathlon was founded in France in 1976 and now operates over 1,500 stores in around 1,000 cities in 65 countries around the world. The company is considered the largest sporting goods retailer in the world.

“For Decathlon this is one of the most important days in the sports world. Baseball5 represents the most of two of the most important disciplines in Mexico”, said Frank Martinez Sports Events Director for Decathlon Mexico.

This partnership agreement was realized through a joint effort by the WBSC and its commercial arm, BASE International S.A..
