The day opened with the completion of the game between the United States and South Africa, which was postponed on 11 September. The US completed the job, sending the Netherlands through to the Super Round. In the final game of Day 6, Panama beat Australia to earn an advantage in the Placement Round.

The XXX WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup completed its opening day programme on Wednesday.

The opening game saw a US win against South Africa confirm the Netherlands as the third-place team in Group A and the sixth team in the Super Round.

The Super Round is set to open on Thursday, 15 September.

Day 6 Results

Australia-Panama 3-2

Australia scored one in the tie-break, gave up the tying run on a couple of errors and Panama won it on a sacrifice fly by Eric Guevara.

Panama got on the scoreboard as right fielder Joaquin Gamba singled off Joe Hogan in the bottom of the second.

Panama right fielder Joaquin Gamba lost a towering fly by Nick Bertucci and allowed Australia to tie the game in the top of the fourth.

Australia scored the go ahead run in the top of the eighth on a base hit by third baseman Kyan Wallington.

In the bottom of the eighth Australia's defence gives away the tying run and Panama walks it off on a sacrifice fly by third baseman Eric Guevara.

USA-South Africa 16-0

It took less than an hour for the US to complete the job and close the makeup game against South Africa. The hosts scored six more runs and headed to the Super Round undefeated.
Their win qualifies the Netherlands as the third-place finisher in Group A.

The game resumed from the top of the third with runners at first and second. Quinn McKenzie gave up back-to-back walks, and Bryce Eldridge hit a sacrifice fly to update the score to 12-0.

The US showed they are on the field to respect the game and the early birds in the stands at LECOM Park.

The US added four runs, taking the game to a quick fifth inning finish.

South Africa's outfielder Jamie Brooks singled in the bottom of the fifth to break Stone Russell's perfect game.

Korea-Canada 13-0

Korea earned their fourth win outscoring Canada in a game that was close for five innings. Korea had an 11-run sixth at-bat, highlighted by a grand slam by Daeseon Jeong.

Dongheon Kim swang for the fences and Korea took the lead.

Canada's outfield prevented more extra-bases.

Korea added a run in the top of the fourth on a groundout, then displayed great defence.

An RBI single by Daeseon Jeong made it 3-0 in the top of the sixth.

Korea scored 11 in a sixth at-bat highlighted by a grand slam by Daeseon Jeong, who enjoyed a five-RBI game.

Chinese Taipei-Panama 10-6

Chinese Taipei and Panama were off to a wild start. They used four pitchers to go through two innings, scoring six runs each. Chin Hao Shu silenced Panama bats, while Chinese Taipei scored four in the top of the third against Moses Castillo and didn't need to look back.

Chinese Taipei wasted no time. Leadoff hitter Hsi Chiun scored on a sacrifice fly.

Panama struck right back in the bottom of the first against starter Chia Wei Lin.

Yen En Wang took the mound and got through the first. Panama extended the lead to 4-1.

Chinese Taipei didn't give up. Chun Wei Liu and Yi Lei Sun had a couple of RBIs each and reversed the lead in the top of the second.

Panama stayed in the game. Eric Guevara singled to cut Chinese Taipei's lead to 6-5.

Panama tied it in the bottom of the second on back to back singles by Guevara and Lasso .

Ismael Velasco became the fourth Panama pitcher as he stepped to the mound in the top of the third. This didn't prevent Chinese Taipei from taking a new lead on a base hit by Sun Yi Lei.

Yung Chuan Huang singled in another run. Chinese Taipei made it 10-6 on a sacrifice fly.

Chih Hao Shu, Po Chun Lin and Nien Hsi Yang didn't allow a run to Panama in the remaining four innings.

Netherlands-South Africa 9-0

The Netherlands were already certain of a Super Round spot before playing. They scored early and extended the lead in the fourth. Catcher Mees Robberse hit a three-run home run.

The Netherlands capitalized on an error and took an early lead. Catcher Mees Robberse hit a three run homer in the top of the fourth to extend the lead.

Alexander Albertus singled in the top of the sixth to extend the Dutch lead to 6-0.

Mees Rooberse gave his contribution also as a catcher.

The Dutch added three runs in the top of the seventh.
