The Puerto Rican Baseball Federation (FBPR) has named former MLB catcher and baseball legend Yadier Molina manager of their U-15 National Baseball Team. The Puerto Rican squad will play a friendly tournament in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, against the host team and USA.
“It’s an honour to work with these young players and help them to develop. It’s always an honour to represent Puerto Rico,” said Molina, who has experience at the helm of the Puerto Rico National Team. He also managed the U-23 squad in 2018, during the II WBSC U-23 Baseball World Cup in Colombia, and also managed the team during the World Baseball Classic this year.
Molina has also experience managing in the Venezuelan Baseball League and the Roberto Clemente League in Puerto Rico. “We have a very talented team. We’re going to run a lot and play small baseball. From the 20 players in the roster, 15 can pitch so this is also a strength,” Molina said.
