Chinese Taipei hit six home runs in impressive victory against India

Six inside-the-park home runs highlighted the victory of Chinese Taipei in their sweep of the Opening Round of the II WBSC U-12 Softball World Cup.

Defending champions Chinese Taipei swept the Opening Round after blasting six home runs in a 20-0 win over India on Friday at the II WBSC U-12 Softball World Cup at Jin-Long Stadium.

Yu-Yang Wu and Sheng-Zhi Wu doubled up their home run output, while En-Shih Hsu and Yue-Cen Wu each contributed an inside-the-park homer to lead the offence of the home team, which had a productive effort in recording 23 hits and 14 RBIs as they moved straight to the semifinals.

Chinese Taipei’s solid hitting game started early, enabling them to mount a huge 17-run lead, with three of the homers being scored in the top of the first inning.

But it was an overall great effort by the hosts as their players were clinical and pounced on every opportunity to reach home, until finally India got their break with two outs to end the frame when two Chinese Taipei runners left early.

Solid pitching anchored by Yi-Chieh Lee and I-Ying Shih gave the Indian batters little to start on their offence while India managed to contain the runs from their opponents in the last two innings with only three home runs recorded.
