USA beat Canada, 12-1, in the final of the WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup Americas Qualifier. Cuba earned the bronze medal.

World No. 1 USA prevailed in the 14-team WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup Americas Qualifier after winning the final, 12-1, against No. 3 Canada in four innings. The two North American giants advance to the WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup joined by world No. 30 Cuba, No. 5 Puerto Rico and No. 14 Venezuela. 

USA posted an undefeated 9-0 record through the week-long event and won their second official event of the year, after winning The World Games in Birmingham, Alabama. the U.S. pitchers remained solid through 40.2 innings pitched while limiting their opponents to 13 runs on 26 hits.​

Canada had to record back-to-back wins against Puerto Rico (7-0) and Cuba (9-0) to earn a spot in the final. The Cuban team earned the bronze medal and Puerto Rico fourth place.

The fifth and final spot in the XVII WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup was decided in a winner-takes-all game between Venezuela and No. 4 Mexico. After a 10-inning drama, Venezuela walked off Mexico, 5-4, with a bases-loaded walk. 

USA, Canada, Cuba, Puerto Rico and Venezuela join No. 10 Netherlands, No. 12 Great Britain and No. 7 Italy as the qualified nations for the WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup, which will be the first to be played under the two-stage format.

The Group Stage of the WBSC Women's Softball World Cup will be played in 2023, with 18 teams across three groups, to be staged in Italy, Spain and Ireland. The top two teams from each group will advance to the Final Stage in Italy in 2024.
