The WBSC released today the Technical Commissioners (TCs) Licensing Programme – Softball, available in English for all its members via the WBSC Academy reserved area. The course has been prepared by the WBSC Softball Tournament Commission.
The
course aims to prepare the attendees for managing the field at a WBSC event,
and it is tailored for aspiring WBSC International and Local/National Softball
Technical Commissioners.
Consisting
of five video lessons, it covers several areas, including preparation before,
during and after the game, soft skills, regulations, and anti-doping.
Lesson
1 - The role of a TC; Preliminary Information: It introduces to past and
current training made available to TCs. Description of the duties before, upon
and after arrival to an event and qualities required to be successful.
Lesson
2 - On-Site Duties at a Softball World Cup: It provides training on the
on-site duties at the World Cups, including pre-game, during the game and after
the game duties. This covers field inspections, working with all tournament
personnel, dealing with delays, protests and selection of awards.

3 - Use of the TC Forms: It deals with introduction to and training on the
use of the 10 major forms used by a TC in the day-to-day duties of working a world-level
event. Each form is reviewed in detail and each TC gets to use the forms while
receiving instruction.

4 - Tournament Regulations; Appendixes: It involves training on the most up
to date Tournament Regulations and the four Appendixes that accompany them. The
Tournament Regulations and Appendixes are reviewed in detail with the sections
most critical to the TC being highlighted.
Lesson
5 - Final Remarks and Anti-Doping Procedures: It Includes a review on the
importance of a TC being well versed on the rules. TCs are then trained in the
anti-doping procedures handled at an international events and what their role
is in the anti-doping area.
After each lesson, the TC will have to pass a quiz to advance through the course and get the Certificate of Participation.
