It will mark the 37th edition of the event. Czech Republic will host the tournament for the third time.

WBSC Europe announced that the Czech Republic earned hosting rights for the European Baseball Championship 2023. The tournament is scheduled from 24 September to 1 October in Prague, Brno, Ostrava, Trebic and Blansko.

The 16 participating National Teams will compete in four groups:

Group A: World No. 14 Czechia, No. 19 Spain, No. 30 Austria, No. 34 Greece.
Group B: World No. 17 Italy, No. 23 Great Britain, No. 40 Sweden, No. 52 Hungary
Group C: World No. 8 Netherlands, No. 22 France, No. 29 Ukraine, No. 32 Croatia.
Group D: World No. 18 Germany, No. 20 Israel, No. 24 Belgium, No. 49 Switzerland

The top two finishers of each group will advance to the elimination games. The second phase will consist of three rounds: quarterfinals, semifinals and medal games.

The Netherlands are the defending champions and the highest-ranked National Team. They defeated Israel in the final in Italy to claim their 24th European Title in September 2021. Switzerland will participate in the European Championship for the first time.

It will be the 37th edition of the European Championship, which was inaugurated in 1954 in Belgium. Czechia hosted the 2005 European Championship and co-hosted with Germany the 2014 edition.
