Effective prevention and clean sport values-based education programs are important to create a strong doping-free culture. WADA has developed resources for athletes, coaches, doctors and any other person who wishes to know more about anti-doping.

Educational Tools

ADEL (Anti-Doping Education and Learning Platform), a WADA Platform that supports the anti-doping community by providing educational solutions for athletes, their support personnel and other stakeholders. 
Some of its attributes include:

  • a new fully responsive mobile app to allow users to learn on the go;
  • courses available to complete offline;
  • ADO training programmes;
  • personalised learning plans;
  • community learning and question and answer center;
  • resource center for all education material;
  • a dedicated helpdesk.

The learning plans are addressed to the following actors:

  • international level athletes;
  • registered-testing pool athletes;
  • olympic athletes;
  • national level athletes;
  • coaches;
  • medical professionals;
  • administrators;
  • parents.

Face-to-Face activities:

  • event-based education;
  • in-person workshops.

Sport Values in Every Classroom Toolkit
This WADA toolkit is a free, cross-curricular resource targeted at teachers of students aged 8-12 years old. The mission is to assist teachers in their work to instil in children the values of respect, equity and inclusion through engaging activities.

Specifically, they deal with:

  • Health consequences of using doping substances;
  • Accountability;
  • Results management;
  • TUEs;
  • Whereabouts;
  • Decision making.

Play True Quiz
WADA’s Play True Quiz is an interactive computer game that tests athletes and their entourage’s knowledge about anti-doping. It is currently available in 47 languages. As an integral element of its outreach programme, WADA devoted considerable resources to the development of this interactive computer game which has been showcased at major events including the Olympic Games, Paralympic Games and many international events.

Youth Quiz
The Youth Quiz was developed to target a younger audience by providing them core anti-doping information that better suits their level. This interactive tool has been featured at the Youth Olympic Games and other youth events. The Youth Quiz is currently available in 42 languages.

Roles & Responsibilities

WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency)
It publishes on its website the essential points of the educational programs through the International Standard for Education (ISE): a manual that includes everything that sports organisations must do to educate their stakeholders on anti-doping.

IF (International Federation)
They must designate educational programs for international-level athletes and for those included in their education pool.

MEO (Major Event Organisation)
MEOs are responsible for ensuring educational activities during their events, through event-based education activities.

NOC (National Olympic Committee)
Where a National Anti-Doping Organisation doesn't exist, the National Olympic Committee shall be the authority on education in their country. Where a NADO exists, The NOC shall cooperate with their NADO to ensure that athletes and athlete support personnel selected to participate in the Olympic/Paralympic Games shall receive education in advance of the event.

NADO (National Anti-Doping Organisation)
NADOs are the entities responsible for education within their countries.

NF (National Federation)
NFs must collaborate with NADOs and WBSC in carrying out its anti-doping educational activities.
