FINNISH BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL FEDERATION HISTORY End of 1940s – softball game in Rauma between pesäpallo players and American Navy Sailors 1950 – Coach exchange between Finland and the USA 1951 – Sept.
15 – exhibition game in Lahti 1952 – Baseball as a demonstration sport at Helsinki Olympics between compiled American Olympians and Finnish pesäpallo players. Pesäpallo also demonstrated at games 1970s – Exhibition game played in Kouvola against an American team 1980 – Bases Baseball and Softball Club founded in Turku 1981 – March 9 – Finnish Baseball and Softball Federation founded March 14 – Finnish Federation accepted as member of CEBA (current CEB) 1984 – Helsinki Puumat participate as 1st Finnish club team in Euro Cup in Barcelona, Spain Finnish National Team participate for 1st time in European Championships in Great Britain 1994 – Finland participates in Nordic Championships in Västerås, Sweden 2002 – Pesäpallo player Toni Kohonen plays for Finnish National Team at EM-Qualifier in Stockholm, Sweden 2004 – Finland wins its first Nordic Championship in Skövde, Sweden 2005 – Women's National Softball Team, made up of Pesäpallo players, participate at European Championships in Prague, Czech Republic 2009 – Ex-MLB pitcher of Finnish descent Tim Harikkala gives pitching clinic in Helsinki to group of adults and youth 2012 – Tony Jones 1st umpire from Finland to officiate in European Senior Championships 2016 – Espoo Expos win their fourteenth consecutive Finnish Championship
