History

Amateur Baseball Association of Thailand was officially established on January 3, 1992. The Association had Pol. Maj. Gen. Dr. Chanvut Vajrabukka, Assistant Commissioner of Narcotics Suppression Bureau, Police Department, served as President, and Mr. Vutthicahi Udonkanjananan, Director of Minebea Thai Ltd.
and Manager of Human Resource and Administration Department, Minebea Group of Companies (Thailand) held position as the Association’s Secretary. Amateur Baseball Association of Thailand was approved by Thailand Cultural Center on November 7, 1991 and was certified by the National Olympic Committee of Thailand on March 27, 1992. The Association was authorized by the Sports Authority of Thailand to establish following the permit no. 007/2535, with the permission to use the term “of Thailand” following the permit no. 001/2535 dated June 22, 1992 with the following purposes:
1. To promote and support baseball in Thailand
2. To support and encourage the compliance with the amateur baseball rules and regulation
3. To hold competitions among members by providing equipment, trainer and field
4. To cooperate with International Baseball Federation, International Olympic Committee, National Olympic Committee of Thailand and Sports Authority of Thailand in holding baseball leagues  The Association has been receiving support from many government and private sections, especially from the Baseball Federation of Japan, Minebea Group of Companies (Thailand), Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Embassy of Japan. As per the fundraising charity party, the Association focuses on sharing basic knowledge and how to play baseball. The Association also has a policy and plan to develop and increase the popularity of baseball as one of the famous sports by holding baseball leagues, providing umpire training, etc. The Association constructed the first standard baseball stadium in Thailand with the budget support from JEC FUN (BANPAKU). The stadium was built on the land given by the Department of Physical Education, where it is located in Queen Sirikit 60th Anniversary Stadium, Klong 6, Pathum Thani. At the opening ceremony of the stadium we had Air Chief Marshal Somboon Rahong, who was a Deputy Prime Minister in that time, served as the honorary Chairman.  Minebea Group of Companies (Thailand) has an intention and commitment to support and promote baseball to become well-known in Thailand. The first step was taken in 1992 when we provided support in the establishment of Amateur Baseball Association of Thailand with the cooperation from the Baseball Federation of Asia. Apart from that, Minebea Group of Companies (Thailand) was the main force in the construction of the first international standard baseball stadium in Thailand, which could be one of the most important events in Thailand’s sports history. Ever since then, the Group of Companies has been continually supporting and promoting activities of the Association’s as well as organizing both international and local baseball leagues, e.g. 1994 Asian Games in Japan, Asian baseball leagues, and Olympics, etc.
