History

The Philippine Amateur Baseball Association (PABA) is the governing body for Baseball in the Philippines. PABA was established in 1954. In the same year, the Baseball Federation of Asia (BFA) was also established. The President of PABA, Charles Parsons was likewise elected the inaugural President of BFA.
The Phiilippines won the inaugural Asian Baseball Championship also in 1954, winning over Japan in the Championship game 8-1. Baseball has a strong following in the Philippines with many active regional groups particularly in Davao, Zamboanga, Southwest Mindanao/Sarangani region, Negros, Panay, Samar, Cebu, Batanagas, Laguna, Cavite, Manila, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Tarlac, and Mountain Province. The most active members of PABA include: Little League Philippines, Tot Baseball Foundation (Pony), Laguna Association of Baseball and Softball, Junior Baseball Softball Foundation, Tanauan Baseball Softball, Universities Athletic Association of the Philippines, Alabang Baseball Softball Club and Dumaguete Baseball Softball Association. The Philippines has actively participated in Baseball competitions at the Asian Baseball Championship, Asian Games, Southeast Asian Games, Women's Baseball Asian Cup, BFA 18U Baseball Championship, BFA 15U Baseball Championship and BFA 12U Baseball Championship.  Philippine Baseball teams have also participated actively in Little League and Pony Asian Regioanl competitions.  Philippine Baseball teams have reached the World Series for Junior League, Senior League and Big League under Little League International and Mustang, Bronco, Pony and Colt under Pony International.
