History

Baseball and softball was introduced in 1989 by American Tom Roy of Unlimited Potential Inc. in Warsaw, Indiana, an evangelistic Christian organization whose motto is “Serving Christ through Baseball.” Baseball started in three schools that is Nakasero Primary school, Kings college Buddo and Mengo secondary school  with less than a dozen balls, six bats, no gloves.
It was managed by Mr Barnabas Mwesigye who was entrusted with these balls and bats. Mr Barnabas Mwesigye by then was a national soccer coach but also had interest in baseball and softball. Because of no gloves, most of the kids were scared to catch balls and only the brave ones stood their ground.
Since its introduction, baseball and softball are played in soccer and cricket fields in most parts of the country expect for Gayaza region where a Baseball stadium was constructed by the Japanese Government through a grant in 2014.             In 2011, Uganda Baseball and Softball Association (UBASA) was established and registered as the National Sporting Association responsible for the administration, conduct, control, development and promotion of the sport of baseball and softball in Uganda.
