Aruba defeated Italy 9-8 in the first game of the second round at the 15U Baseball World Championship in Parral, Chihuahua, Mexico.

Aruba defeated Italy 9-8 in the first game of the second round at the 15U Baseball World Championship in Parral, Chihuahua, Mexico.

After an early lead with a run scored in the top of the first inning, out of to errors made by the Caribbean defense, Italy had constantly to run after its opponents.

Aruba scored three times in the bottom of the first and went 4-1 in the bottom of the second, with the crucial help of two errors by the Italian defense.

The European lineup reacted in the third, with 2 runs, but an error allowed Aruba to go 5-3 and a double by Werleman, a single by Pelayo and the error number 7 of the Italian defense gave them an 8-4 lead.

A bases loaded triple by Tanara again put Italy in touch in the eighth and the ninth saw Aruba score its ninth run; Italy gave a last thrill to game with a run in the ninth, loaded the bases, but could not find the winning shot, leaving Aruba the right to celebrate after the game.
