15U BWC: Brazil one-hits Indonesia

Brazil started the I IBAF 15U Baseball World Championship in Mexico with a 21-0 shutout over Indonesia on Thursday morning in Parral Stadium. They already led with 11 runs, when the South Americans put ten runs on the board in the seventh. The Asian squad committed eight errors in the loss.

Leadoff hitter and shortstop Lucas Sakay went 5-for-5 with a triple, two doubles and a homerun shy of the cycle. He scored four times and drove in six RBI for the most impressive performance on the first day of the tournament. Thiago Kubo and Salomon Koba crossed the plate three times apiece.

On the mound pitchers Geovani Barbari and Rodrigo Mafoei issued just one hit and two walks in seven scoreless innings. Barbari struck out six to earn the win. Muhammad Fauzan gave up five hits, four runs (1 ER) and a walk in three innings, taking the loss.
