15U BWC: Chinese Taipei takes home Bronze

Chinese Taipei has captured the bronze medal at the I IBAF 15U Baseball World Championship. They defeated host Mexico 6-1 on Sunday afternoon in Chihuahua to claim third place in the final standings.

Chinese Taipei has captured the bronze medal at the I IBAF 15U Baseball World Championship. They defeated host Mexico 6-1 on Sunday afternoon in Chihuahua to claim third place in the final standings.

Taking the lead in the first on a RBI fielder’s choice by Lin Chen Fei, Chinese Taipei blew the score open with two runs in the sixth and three in the eighth. Mexico only was able to avoid the shutout, crossing the plate in the eighth.

Lin Chen Fei ended up with two RBI in the game. Hung Chen Wei and Chang Wei Shen each had three hits, a run and a RBI. Luis Haro scored the lone run for the host on a sac fly by Luis Urias.

On the mound Chueh Ting Chin, Chang Chao Sheng and Lin Shun Chi shared the workload for Chinese Taipei. Chang Chao Sheng got the win, pitching 4 1/3 innings of relief, allowing three hits, a run and five walks.

Jose Romero conceded four hits, a run and a base on balls in two innings, getting charged with the loss.
