15U BWC: Cuba beats Argentina, Rain in Parral

Cuba concluded their first round schedule at the I IBAF 15U Baseball World Championship in Mexico with a perfect 4-0 record. On Sunday evening they defeated Argentina 7-1 in a rain-shortened game. It was the second match for both teams on the day, as they had to make up their postponement from Saturday. Argentina dropped to 2-1 with their first loss in the tournament.

The team from the Caribbean scored all of their seven runs in the second and third to erase an early 0-1 deficit. Alejandro Rivero hit a two-run homerun. He, Luis Robert and Rangel Ramos scored twice. Elian Sanchez crossed the plate in the first to give the Gauchos a lead.

Adrian Sagarra struck out nine batters in five innings, allowing four hits, one run and three walks. Franco Trifloglio took the loss, issuing six hits, seven runs (5 ER) and five base on balls in four innings. After that the game was called due to rain, but since the necessary five-inning mark was reached it is an official game.
