Honduras dominated Lithuania in a 12-2 seven-inning victory on Thursday in the first game in Chihuahua at the I IBAF 15U Baseball World Championship. They scored nine runs in the third to decide things quickly. Two runs in the seventh ended the contest early due to ten-run mercy rule.

Honduras dominated Lithuania in a 12-2 seven-inning victory on Thursday in the first game in Chihuahua at the I IBAF 15U Baseball World Championship. They scored nine runs in the third to decide things quickly. Two runs in the seventh ended the contest early due to ten-run mercy rule.

Oscar Rosorio gave Honduras an early 1-0 advantage in the first with a RBI single to center. Lithuania stayed in the game until the third, when the floodgates opened. Nine runs scored for Honduras on five hits and five of the eight errors by the Europeans.

Ramses Valladares stood out for the team from Central America. He went 2-for-4 with a triple, three runs and three RBI. Kevin Reyes drove in two. Lukas Pupininkas and Romantas Trumpa scored the two runs for Lithuania in the fifth.

On the mound Kevin Reyes also led the way. He started and issued only four hits, two runs (1 ER) and three walks in five innings. He struck out seven for the win. Marius Balandis did a good job early on before falling apart in the third. He surrendered four hits, eight runs (3 ER) and three walks in 2 1/3 innings.
