15U BWC: Mexico defeats Brazil in 2nd Round Opener

After their surprise loss to Chinese Taipei in the first round, Mexico is back on track at the I IBAF 15U Baseball World Championship. The hosts defeated Brazil 19-2 in six innings to improve to 1-1 at the start of the second round. Ten runs in the bottom of the fifth blew the game wide open.

Luis Fernando Urias, Hector Carlos Chapa and Conrado Diaz were the main players in the contest, combining for three triples, six runs and 13 RBI. 11 different players scored at least once. On the mound Jose Moreno pitched 5 2/3 strong innings for the win, striking out seven.

Geovani Barbari issued seven hits, ten runs (8 ER) and five base on balls in 4 2/3 frames for the loss. Brazil dropped to 0-2 in the second round.
