Mexico handed Venezuela its first loss at the I IBAF 15U Baseball World Championship. In the evening game of the second round in Chihuahua they used two three-run frames to down the dominating team of the tournament 6-4 on Thursday.

The outcome was decided in the sixth inning. Shortly after Venezuela had successfully erased a 0-3 deficit, Mexico broke the tie with a RBI single by Andres Urbina, a bases loaded walk by Hector Guerrero and a run thanks to an error. A RBI triple by Luis Perdomo brought Venezuela within two runs in the seventh, but they couldn’t do much later.

Edgar Arredondo issued five hits, four runs (3 ER) and three base on balls in 6 1/3 innings for the win. Jesus Brito closed it out with 2 2/3 scoreless innings. Pitcher number three of six for Venezuela, Jose Mata, was charged with the loss.
