1992 Olympian Jesús Lisarri elected president of Spanish Baseball Softball

Spain's former National Team catcher led a ticket named 'Together We Advance' and received 35 votes, defeating 'Foundation for the Future' led by Jordi Vallès, who received 28 votes.

Jesús LISARRI is the new president of the Royal Spanish Baseball and Softball Federation (RFEBS, Real Federación Española de Béisbol y Sófbol). He was elected during the General Assembly celebrated in Madrid on Saturday, 19 December. Alejandro Blanco, the President of the Spanish Olympic Committee (COE, Comité Olímpico Español) attended the Assembly.

Lisarri was the leader of a ticket named Together We Advance (Juntos Avanzamos) and earned 35 votes. The competitor was the Foundation for the Future (La Base Del Futuro) campaign led by Jordi Vallès. The ticket earned 28 votes.

The 53-year-old was born in Pamplona and played and coached in the top Spanish Baseball League (Division de Honor). He was a catcher with a respectable arm and represented Spain internationally, earning two bronze medals in the European Championship (1989 and 1991).

Lisarri was on Spain's National Team roster at the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona.

The newly elected president took to Twitter to introduce his Executive Board, stating: "A good Federation is led by a good team."
