Cuba is continuing to demonstrate their strength at the I IBAF 15U Baseball World Championship. On Friday afternoon they took apart Indonesia 24-0 in five innings. They scored 15 runs alone in the second frame en route to the blowout.

Edmonton (Canada). The first round at the V IBAF Women’s Baseball World Cup in Edmonton, Canada ended on Friday with a thrilling game between Japan and Canada. The defending champion nearly blew an eight-run lead, finishing off the host with a 1-2-3 double play en route to a first-place after the round robin.

Women’s BWC: Japan ends Canada’s Streak to finish 1st

Defending world champion Japan is entering the semi-finals of the V IBAF Women’s Baseball World Cup on Saturday as the number-one seed and will face Australia in the afternoon. They defeated Canada 9-7 on Friday evening in front of the best crowd so far at Telus Field in Edmonton, handing the hosts their first loss in the tournament. Canada will now take on Team USA in the second semi-final.

15U BWC: Italy overpowers a surprising Lithuania

IBAF Women’s Baseball Development Seminar in Edmonton under way

Not only is the V IBAF Women’s Baseball World Cup being played in Edmonton, Canada right now, but for the first time a Women’s Baseball Development Seminar will be held at the same place. The seminar started on Thursday and will be concluded on Sunday, August 19. Sessions will be held right at Telus Field to allow participants to follow the competition closely.

Women’s BWC: Cuba wins Duel of winless Teams

Cuba has finally won a game in the V IBAF Women’s Baseball World Cup. They defeated the Netherlands 13-5 on Thursday afternoon at Telus Field, concluding the first round in Edmonton with a 1-6 record in seventh place. The Dutch team dropped to 0-7. Both teams will play in the consolation round this weekend, still having a chance to finish in fifth.

Women’s BWC: Venezuela stuns USA

It is probably the biggest upset at the V IBAF Women’s Baseball World Cup so far. Venezuela stunned Team USA 5-1 in the afternoon game at John Fry Park. Four runs in the fourth decided the outcome, as the South American pitching issued just four hits in seven innings of play. Venezuela improved to 3-4 to end the first round. The United States dropped to 5-2 and has to wait until the evening to know if they are second or third.

15U BWC: Nicaragua edges out Germany

Just one big inning was needed for Nicaragua to down Germany 5-4 on Friday morning at Cuauhtémoc stadium. They scored all five of their runs in the bottom of the sixth, erasing a 0-2 deficit en route to their second victory of the tournament. Germany threatened to come back in the ninth, but left the bases loaded to end the game.

Women’s BWC: Australia clinches 4th Place in 1st Round

Australia is joining Canada, USA and Japan in the semi-finals of the V IBAF Women’s Baseball World Cup. The team from Down Under shut out Chinese Taipei 11-0 on Friday morning to clinch fourth place in the first round of the tournament. The Asian squad has to settle for the consolation round. The opponent for Australia will be determined later on Friday.

Big Scores and Rain on first Day in Mexico

Chihuahua (Mexico). The I IBAF 15U Baseball World Championship started with five games in Chihuahua, Cuauhtémoc and Parral, Mexico on Thursday. Brazil, Indonesia, Cuba, Aruba and Honduras celebrated lopsided victories on the first day of the inaugural tournament. In the evening the opening ceremony and the game between Mexico and Chinese Taipei in Chihuahua were rained out.

Brazil started the I IBAF 15U Baseball World Championship in Mexico with a 21-0 shutout over Indonesia on Thursday morning in Parral Stadium. They already led with 11 runs, when the South Americans put ten runs on the board in the seventh. The Asian squad committed eight errors in the loss.

On Thursday Canada, which remains undefeated, USA and Japan cruised to three easy victories. Also Venezuela prevailed over the Netherlands. Australia and Chinese Taipei missed out with upsets to drop to 3-3 each.

The Maple Leafs downed Cuba 12-2 in six innings on Thursday evening. Six runs in the first gave Canada an early and commanding lead, putting them on the fast track to victory lane.

Honduras dominated Lithuania in a 12-2 seven-inning victory on Thursday in the first game in Chihuahua at the I IBAF 15U Baseball World Championship. They scored nine runs in the third to decide things quickly. Two runs in the seventh ended the contest early due to ten-run mercy rule.
