Canada remains undefeated at the V IBAF Women’s Baseball World Cup in Edmonton, Canada. On Sunday afternoon at Telus Field, the Maple Leafs scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to edge out Australia 5-4. It was their third win in the third game at the tournament, remaining undefeated before their clash with Team USA on Monday evening. Australia dropped to 1-2.

Women’s BWC: Chinese Taipei cruises by Netherlands

Chinese Taipei has its second win at the V IBAF Women’s Baseball World Cup in Edmonton, Canada. They crushed the Netherlands 17-3 in five innings on a sunny Sunday morning at Telus Field. They scored 16 of their 17 runs in the first three frames, highlighted by a pair of six-run rallies in the second and third. The three Dutch runs were their first in the tournament, as they lost their third game.

USA wins Thriller to highlight Day 2 in Edmonton

Edmonton (Canada). On day two of the V IBAF Women’s Baseball World Cup all eight teams were in competition for the first time. USA won the most thrilling game of the day, coming back against Australia for their second victory. Also Japan and Venezuela entered the tournament. The defending champion from Asia dispatched the Netherlands, while the South Americans lost to the hosts in the evening. Also Chinese Taipei downed Cuba to get into the win column.

Women’s BWC: Maple Leafs stay on Course against Venezuela

Canada welcomed Venezuela at the V Women’s Baseball World Cup with an impressive ten-run rule shortened 14-2 victory. They scored four runs in the first and blew the score wide open in the fourth and the fifth to end it early. It is the second win for the host at Telus Field in Edmonton, remaining on course for a medal. Venezuela arrived only a few hours before game time and only was able to be a threat in the first.

The US squad came back from an early 2-7 deficit, plating five crucial runs in the last two frames of the game. Australia dropped to 1-1 in the tournament.

After having the opening day off at the V Women’s Baseball World Cup defending champion Japan started the tournament at Telus Field in Edmonton, Canada with a 21-0 blowout over the Netherlands. Japan scored nine runs apiece in the first and the fifth to end the contest early after five frames. It was the second loss for the Dutch team in the tournament.

Two runs apiece in the second, fourth and sixth lifted the Asians to their first victory in the tournament. They had lost to Canada on opening day. Cuba lost for the second time in as many days.

A six-run rally in the fifth inning helped Australia to a 12-4 win over Cuba in the afternoon game at the V IBAF Women’s Baseball World Cup at Telus Field in Edmonton, Canada. The team from Down Under overcame 0-3 and 3-4 deficits to beat the Caribbean squad. Christina Kreppold (4-5, 4 RBI) led Australia on offense. Kim McMillan dominated in a four-inning relief appearance.

The American squad won in five innings, led by pitchers Kristin Caldwell and Kayla Bufardeci, who hold their counterparts to just one hit in the game. The US offense scored in each of the five innings to provide plenty run support.
