Ronke Champion-Adeyemi of Peace Hospice & Palliative Care Chicago (Illinois) in the United States, has donated new baseballequipment to the Nigerian Baseball and Softball Association, NBSA). The equipment includes balls, bats, gloves, helmet, catchers’ mitt and sets of catchers’ equipment, all enough to strengthen 4 baseball teams.

She has been appointed as chair of the Women’s Development Commission at the International Baseball Federation (IBAF) to advise the IBAF Executive Board on the policy to promote women’s baseball. She is also a member of the Athletes Commission. This summer she is going to be the chair of the Technical Commission during the V Women’s Baseball World Cup in Edmonton, Canada (August 10 to 19).

Major League Baseball (MLB), the Players Trust and State Farm® are teaming up with Habitat for Humanity International in an effort to build new homes with families in Joplin, Missouri and Tuscaloosa, Alabama, which were two of the communities devastated by the tornadoes in April and May of 2011. Nine homes will be built in these communities – five in Joplin; four in Tuscaloosa, with two of them to be framed near Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City in the backdrop of the 83rd MLB All-Star Game.
