World No. 25 Argentina revealed an 18-athlete preliminary roster ahead of the Americas Softball Olympic Qualifier, slated to be played in Surrey, Canada, from 25 August to 1 September. The South American nation aims to clinch a ticket to Tokyo 2020, but first, they must advance to the playoffs at the continental level for the first time since 2009, when they finished fifth in Maracay 2009.

You can see the full roster at Argentina Softball Confederation website.

The Argentina Women’s National Team roster includes nine veterans from the Pan American Championship 2017 team. Argentina earned the ninth place in Santo Domingo, one step shy of the playoffs. Head Coach Cristian Lacout also repeated 12 players from the South American Championship 2018 squad that earned bronze in Aruba.

The Americas Softball Olympic Qualifier not only will guarantee two spots for Tokyo 2020 but also will serve as a qualifier for the WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup 2021 and the World Games Birmingham 2021.

A total of 12 nations will take part in the event, looking to secure a berth in the historic softball return to the Olympic Games in Tokyo 2020. The teams will compete in two groups of six in the opening round, with the top three of each group advancing to the super round.

The teams will know their opening round rivals on 29 April 2019, with the groups draw taking place at the WBSC Headquarters in Lausanne.
