MONTERREY, Mexico — History was made Sunday at the U-23 Baseball World Cup as the Australian National Team accomplished the rare feat of executing a triple-play.

In the bottom of the 5th inning, with Chinese Taipei’s Lin Tzu We and Chiang Po Hao on the move, batter Yueh Tung Hua lined a Conor Lourey offering to second baseman Samuel Kennely who caught the ball over his right shoulder for the out. Kennely, alertly, tossed the ball to shortstop Jacob Younis who stepped on second base to double off We and threw to first baseman Connor MacDonald to complete the trifecta.

Australia went on to win the hotly contested game, 8-7, in 10 innings, improving the Aussie National Team’s record to a perfect 3-0 in the Opening Round Group Stage.
