Australian Baseball League renews player agreement with MLB

The deal is going to cement the league's status as the premier baseball platform in the southern hemisphere.

The Australian Baseball League (ABL) and Major League Baseball (MLB) have extended their player agreement for a further three seasons.

“We’re really thrilled to have MLB and its clubs extend their support of the ABL,” said Cameron Vale, Baseball Australia CEO.

Since the ABL relaunched in 2010, there have been 42 players go on to make their MLB debut after playing in Australia, including 36 foreign players promoted by big league organisations.

The renewed player agreement will cement the ABL's status as the premier baseball competition in the Souther Hemisphere.
