Recent IBAF 18U Baseball World Championship roster addition, New South Wales (NSW) outfielder Karl Hoschke, has signed with the MLB franchise Atlanta Braves.

Hoschke’s signing marks the 18th Australian player to be signed to a major league contract this year.

Hoschke had a stellar performance at this year’s Major League Baseball Australian Academy Program (MLBAAP), batting .361 with a .506 slugging percentage, while picking up 13 RBI’s along the way in 31 games.

His solid play won him the 2012 MLBAAP Batting Award and led to his addition to the 2012 IBAF 18U Baseball World Championships roster, after outfielder Adam Silva went down with an injury.

The hard-hitting outfielder is set to join the Atlanta Braves next April for Spring Training.
