From September 2 to 4 the Barcelona USSSA Campus took place with more than 100 participants from different parts of Spain. The players trained three days under the guidance of former MLB players Jeffrey Hammonds (MLB All Star and Olympian in 92), Luis Alicea (All Star, winner as coach of the World Series in 2007), Michael Tucker (considered one of MLB’s best hitters) and Charles Johnson (MLB All Star, 4 consecutive years “Gold Glove”, 1 time winner of the World Series, Olympic in 92). Former Triple “A” DJ Wabick and Italian technicians Davide Dallospedale and Andrea d’Auria also complete the staff.

The training format has been a great experience for all the players that have been in the hands of professionals, the need to work the basics on defense and hitting, and warming up like teams in Major League “Spring Trainning”.

The representative of USSSA, Dj Wabick, said”these three days in Barcelona has been a great experience for us and we are surprised of the acceptance and participation of young Spanish players, our idea is to keep working the next year and to bring baseball and softball teams to play tournaments with teams from here, hopefully in the future the Spanish team could travel to the United States”, he also added “the future of young people is a commitment we all have to develop international baseball. ”

Before leaving the city, Hammonds, Tucker and Johnson took the opportunity to visit the Montjuïc Olympic Stadium where the recalled great moments lived for twenty years in the 1992 Olympic Games.

After the campus in Barcelona, instructors traveled to Parma where the Italy Campus USSSA begins on September 6th.
